Iran Renews Support for Political Processes Regarding Syria

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Reaffirming Iran’s support for political processes in the settlement of Syria’s problems, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian described cooperation among the regional states as the sole way to ensure sustainable security.

In a telephone conversation on Thursday, Foreign Minister Amirabdollahian and his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu talked about the latest developments in the bilateral ties and the major regional issues.

Referring to the good opportunities for the promotion of ties between Iran and Turkey, Amirabdollahian welcomed the expansion of economic, trade and cultural cooperation between the two neighbors.

He also reaffirmed Iran’s readiness to help resolve the regional disputes and establish peace and security in the region.

The foreign minister also voiced Iran’s support for the pursuit of political processes in Syria, saying cooperation and coordination among the regional nations will ensure lasting security.

For his part, Cavusoglu said Turkey is pleased with the growing relations with Iran, noting that the expansion of ties between Tehran and Ankara will help strengthen regional security and stability.

He also described boosting regional cooperation with Iran as “highly constructive”, and welcomed contacts between the high-ranking officials of the two neighbors.
