According to Jalal Maleki, a spokesperson for Tehran Municipality's fire department and safety services, the workers were busy tearing down an old building when it suddenly collapsed, burying three workers under large debris.
The firefighters managed to rescue all three workers alive from the rubble in the shortest amount of time, but they had sustained injuries, Maleki continued.
Maleki advised careful demolition and reconstruction operations with the necessary precautions taken, in particular during the rainy season when the soil becomes loose.
