Hossein Amirabdollahian and Yemeni National Salvation Government’s top negotiator Mohammad Abdul Salam met in the Omani capital Muscat on Wednesday.

In the meeting, Amirabdollahian praised the perseverance of the Yemeni people in order to achieve their rights. He also reaffirmed the Islamic Republic of Iran’s support for the cause.

Amirabdollahian said the Islamic Republic of Iran has always stressed the necessity of finding a negotiated solution to the Yemen crisis and regards political talks between Yemeni factions as an internal issue of Yemen, the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s website reported.

The top Iranian diplomat also underlined the need to immediately lift the Saudi-led siege on Yemen as a humanitarian move so that the Yemeni people will live normal lives.

Amirabdollahian also remembered the martyrdom anniversary of Iranian ambassador Irlou, describing the late diplomat as “Yemen’s martyr." He reaffirmed the Islamic Republic of Iran’s determination to keep supporting the Yemeni people.

Abdul Salam, for his part, thanked Iran for its support of Yemen and briefed the Iranian foreign minister on the latest development in the Arab country.
