Iran Raps German Chancellor’s Interfering Comments

In a statement on Monday, Nasser Kanaani dismissed the repetition of interfering stances that Scholz has adopted against Iran during his visit to Argentina.

“In an amateurish and biased simulation, the chancellor of Germany once again proved that he still stands on the wrong side of history,” the spokesman said.

During a visit to a memorial to victims of Argentina's military dictatorship in Buenos Aires on Sunday, Scholz said it made him think of what he called Iran's crackdown on protesters. The German chancellor said that visiting the memorial meant that he had to "think of the young people who are now being killed in Iran when they stand up for their freedom and for a better life."

In response, Kanaani said, “What correctly demonstrates a historical analogy is the rise of modern extremism and ambitiousness in Germany whose result is nothing but the spread of violence and hatred just like the failures of leaders before the Second World War, this time by resorting to human rights tools.”

He deplored the German government’s attempt to use a project to gain “power through human rights” in order to present a positive image of itself and to pretend that it is a pioneer of that movement, adding that such behaviors are doomed to defeat.

Kanaani also called on the German advocates of human rights to take account of the brutal crime that the Israeli forces committed against Palestinians in Jenin refugee camp and the West Bank a few days ago, saying the German authorities balked at mentioning a single word in protest at the savagery of the Zionist regime.
