Iranian Foreign Minister Heads to Latin America


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Foreign Minister of Iran Hossein Amirabdollahian began a tour of Nicaragua and Venezuela after a trip to Mauritania.

The top diplomat paid a visit to Mauritania on Tuesday and held talks with the northwest African nation’s senior officials about a range of political and economic issues.

Amirabdollahian left Nouakchott on Wednesday and began a tour of the Americas that will take him to Nicaragua and Venezuela.

The Iranian foreign minister is going to hold meetings with top officials in Managua and Caracas.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, who took office in August 2021, has described plans to promote cooperation with Latin American countries as a main pillar of the Islamic Republic’s foreign policy.
