France Hit by More Nationwide Strikes over Pension Reforms

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – France has been hit by nationwide strikes as protesters voice their opposition to the proposed pension reforms aimed at raising the minimum age for a full pension from 62 to 64.

Transportation services, schools and museums were affected as a result of the strike, with many workers participating in the demonstration to express their dissatisfaction with the changes, according to afp.

The strikes were called by trade unions, who argue that the changes will lead to pension cuts and result in an overall reduction in quality of life for citizens.

Many teachers were also on strike in parts of France, including in Paris, while some other regions were on school break.

The French government, however, has defended the reforms, stating that the changes are necessary to ensure the long-term sustainability of the pension system.

Despite the widespread strikes, the government has said that it will not back down on its plans to raise the pension age, with Prime Minister Jean Castex saying the reforms will be implemented in an "orderly and progressive manner."

As the strikes continue, it remains unclear what the outcome will be for both the protesters and the government. However, it is expected that the strikes will continue to impact daily life in France in the coming days.
