In a meeting with Premier of China Li Keqiang, held in Beijing on Tuesday, Raisi highlighted the significance of supporting multilateralism as a common policy adopted by the two countries in the international arena.

He also stressed the need to strengthen cooperation between Iran and China in regional and international organizations.

Hailing the comprehensive document on strategic cooperation between Iran and China as a symbol of the two countries’ determination to enhance ties, Raisi called for efforts to fully implement the agreement.

For his part, the Chinese premier highlighted the historical relations and the convergent views of the two states about multilateralism in the world, saying constructive negotiations are underway to broaden the relations in various fields.

Li Keqiang also expressed China’s willingness to carry out the strategic cooperation agreement and enhance coordination with Iran.

The Chinese premier also pointed to Iran’s significant and influential role in the region, stressing the need for closer coordination between the two states to promote security and fulfill mutual interests.

Raisi is visiting Beijing at the official invitation of his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.

In March 2021, the foreign ministers of Iran and China signed a 25-year agreement to develop cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

The Iran-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership was announced in a joint statement during a visit by the Chinese president to Tehran in 2016.
