Israeli Soldiers Strip, Violently Beat Palestinian Child at Shuafat Checkpoint (+Video)

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - A disturbing video circulating online depicts Israeli soldiers brutally beating a Palestinian child at the Shuafat checkpoint after forcing him to partially strip off.

World

The incident occurred on Wednesday, as part of an Israeli directive to strip-search Palestinian men and boys passing through the barriers.

According to the Palestine Chronicle, when the young boy refused to take off his trousers, the soldiers attacked him and arrested him. The video also shows the soldiers attacking a woman who tried to stop them from beating the boy.

Tensions remain high at the Shuafat checkpoint in North al-Quds after Israeli forces shot and injured a 13-year-old boy at the Shuafat refugee camp's checkpoint on Monday, claiming he attempted to stab soldiers.

Later in January, Israeli soldiers shot a 16-year-old teenager in the chest during a military raid on the Shuafat refugee camp, and he later died in the hospital. The Palestinians in the Shuafat area regularly suffer extreme violence from Israeli forces.

These attacks occur within the context of the Israeli oppression of new forms of resistance emerging against Israeli apartheid, mainly driven by young Palestinians.

In recent months, East al-Quds, Jenin, and Nablus have become zones of confrontation with Israeli occupation forces.

Palestinians in Nablus have been trapped several times in the Shuafat refugee camp and nearby towns by Israeli forces since October 2022 amid an ongoing search for Palestinian resistance fighters.

The Israeli blockade on Shuafat has prevented Palestinians from leaving to receive necessary health treatments, causing a shortage of basic supplies and suspending education within the camp.
