Venezuela's FM Emphasizes Strong Trade Ties with Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Venezuela's Foreign Minister Yvan Gil Pinto said his country enjoys very successful trade relations with Iran.

In an interview with Islamic Republic News Agency on Tuesday following a meeting with his Iranian counterpart, Pinto expressed his pleasure in visiting the "friendly Islamic Republic of Iran" and noted that Venezuela and Iran are close friends that have intimate comprehensive cooperation.

During his meeting with Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, the two officials exchanged messages from their respective presidents and discussed expanding commercial and trade cooperation, as well as international cooperation between the two countries.

Pinto stated that Iran and Venezuela will be closely cooperating in the Group of Friends of the UN Charter.

The Venezuelan diplomat highlighted that his country's excellent cooperation with Iran is mainly focused on the energy field, imports and exports of goods, and engineering services.

Iran and Venezuela have maintained a strong economic and energy partnership over the years, given their positions as major oil-producing nations. The two countries have cooperated in several energy sectors, such as oil exploration, refining, and trade. Additionally, they have engaged in non-oil trade, including agricultural products, minerals, and engineering services.

Despite the United States' economic sanctions on both Iran and Venezuela, the two nations have continued to strengthen their alliance. Iran has provided Venezuela with fuel, equipment, and technicians to help with the country's fuel shortages.

Furthermore, Iran and Venezuela have collaborated in creating OPEC+ and have taken a collective stance on oil production policies. Additionally, the two countries have come together in the Non-Aligned Movement, which is a platform for developing nations to foster collaboration and promote shared interests.
