Iran-Pakistan Power Grid Connected: Mehrabian

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Noting that the power grids of Iran and Pakistan were connected, the Iranian Minister of Energy said that the electricity transmission line between the two countries was designed and constructed in less than a year with a capacity of 200 megawatts.

Speaking in an interview with the National Iranian TV Network on Sunday afternoon, Ali Akbar Mehrabian stated that the electricity transmission line was built in less than a year in line with developing the infrastructure of electricity transmission to the neighboring countries.

With the construction of the electricity transmission line, the volume of power exchanges between Iran and Pakistan will increase by up to 200 megawatts, the energy minister added.

He pointed to his meeting with the visiting Pakistani minister of energy in Tehran and noted that constructive talks were held regarding electricity swap via this transmission line and it is hoped that the two sides would reach an agreement in this regard.
