Iran Pioneer in West Asia in Building Biomass Power Plants: Energy Minister


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – While inviting private sector investors to focus on renewable power plants, the Iranian minister of energy said the Islamic Republic is the leading country in the West Asian region in construction of biomass power plants.

Ali Akbar Mehrabian made the remarks on Tuesday on the sidelines of the inaugural ceremony of the Tehran Wastewater Biogas Power Plant, adding that the government submitted a comprehensive plan to the Parliament for the development of power plants.

Presently, there are 13-megawatt biomass power plants in the country, the capacity will increase twofold in the current Iranian calendar year of 1402 (started March 21, 2023), Mehrabian highlighted.

The energy minister invited private sector investors to focus on the construction of renewable power plants.
