Iran-China Value of Trade Exceeds $4 Billion in Q1

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The value of trade exchanged between Iran and China in the first three months of the current year in 2023 (January-March) surpassed $4 billion, according to China’s Customs Office.

In this period, China’s export of products to the Islamic Republic registered a 51 percent growth.

The value of trade exchanged between the two countries from January to March 2023 exceeded $4.45 billion, showing a five percent growth as compared to the last year’s corresponding period.

The China’s Customs Office put the value of trade exchanged between Iran and China from January to March 2022 at over $3.855 billion.

Accordingly, China imported $1.135 billion worth of products from Iran from January to March 2023, recording a 41 percent decline as compared to the same period of last year.

China had imported over $1.929 billion worth of products from Iran between January and March 2022.

The significant 20 percent drop of oil price has been cited as one of the main reasons behind reduced value of China’s import of goods from Iran in this timespan.

But China’s export of products to Iran from January to March 2023 hit $2.910 billion, showing a 51 percent growth as compared to the same period of last year.

China has exported $1.926 billion worth of products to Iran from January to March 2022.
