Iran-Oman Trade Value Can Hit $3 Billion Soon: Official

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The chairman of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA) said that achieving $3 billion worth of trade between Iran and Oman in the short term is within reach.

Gholamhossein Shafei made the comment in the Iran-Oman Business Forum, held at the venue of ICCIMA in Tehran on Monday, adding that the growing trend of trade exchanges between Iran and the Sultanate of Oman indicates the positive outlook in the development of bilateral ties.

The volume of trade exchanges between Iran and Oman showed a 41 percent hike in 2022 as compared to a year earlier, the chairman noted.

Iran’s export of non-oil products to Oman in 2022 registered a 51 percent growth, he said, adding that the country’s import of products from Oman also indicated a 29 percent growth as compared to the previous year’s corresponding period.

The two countries enjoy high potentials to broaden their activities in trade and economic fields, he maintained.

He further pointed out that the exchange of specialized trade and economic delegations will lead to the development of trade relations between the private sectors of the two countries.

Elsewhere in his remark, he pointed to the issue of health tourism as one of the practical fields of cooperation and said that Iran’s private sector is ready to cooperate and present health-related services to Omani tourists.

It is hoped that the participation of an Omani trade and economic delegations in the 5th Export Potential Exhibition of Iran will open a new chapter of economic cooperation between the two countries, Shafei added.
