TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s minister of Roads and Urban Development on Friday announced that construction operation of International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) would be completed in the current administration of President Raisi.

Economy

Mehrdad Bazrpash emphasized that the International North-South Transport Corridor will be finalized during the current administration, and he added that 10 million tons of cargo will be transported in the early years of launching the Rasht-Astara Railway.

Turning to this point that an agreement inked between Iran and Russia for completing Rasht-Astara Railway is considered as a significant event in country’s corridor chain, Bazrpash stated that the corridor can play a positive role for countries of Russia, Iran, Republic of Azerbaijan and India to enhance their relations.

Once the construction of the corridor is completed, the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, which have direct access to free waters, will be connected to the North Sea and Caspian Sea littoral states via rail and road, the Roads Minister continued.
