Iran Eager to Ink Long-Term Cooperation Deal with Brazil

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The foreign minister of Iran voiced Tehran’s readiness to sign an agreement on long-term comprehensive cooperation with Brazil.

In a meeting with his Brazilian counterpart, held on the sidelines of the BRICS meeting in South Africa, Hossein Amirabdollahian said Iran is prepared to draw up and sign a comprehensive plan for long-term cooperation with Brazil.

Lauding Brazil as one of Iran’s big trade partners and highlighting the volume of trade exchanges between the two countries, Amirabdollahian described the age-old bilateral relations as a great asset to the two nations.

He also noted that Brazil’s support for Iran’s membership in BRICS will strengthen multilateralism and increase the volume of trade exchanges between the two countries.

For his part, Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira said there exists a good opportunity for the promotion of bilateral ties, noting that he would be delighted to visit Tehran to weigh plans for the enhancement of relations.

Expressing Brazil’s opposition to the unilateral sanctions against Tehran, he stressed that the removal of sanctions will pave the way for the expansion of relations.

The two foreign ministers also discussed joint plans to commemorate the 120th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Iran and Brazil.
