According to the latest forecast, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, Uttarakhand, Mumbai, and Maharashtra are expected to experience heavy rainfall in the coming days, IndiaToday reported.

"The southwest monsoon has made significant progress, covering large parts of the country. We anticipate widespread showers and thunderstorms in Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, Uttarakhand, Mumbai, and Maharashtra, which will bring relief from the scorching heat," the Deputy Director-General of Meteorology at IMD, K. S. Hosalikar, stated.

The IMD also issued a warning regarding the possibility of intense showers, accompanied by gusty winds and lightning, in these regions. The public has been advised to stay updated with the weather forecasts and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.

In Delhi, the monsoon is expected to reach within the next 48 hours, bringing much-needed respite from the sweltering heatwave that has gripped the city. Mr. Kishore Kumar, a resident of Delhi, expressed his relief, saying, "We have been eagerly waiting for the monsoon to arrive and cool down the temperatures. The rains will provide much-needed relief to the people."

The monsoon's advancement is crucial for agricultural activities in these regions, as it will provide irrigation and replenish water reservoirs. Farmers in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are particularly hopeful for a good monsoon season, as it will support their cultivation and enhance the overall agricultural output.

In Mumbai, the monsoon arrived a few days ago, and the city has already witnessed heavy downpours. Local authorities have urged citizens to stay cautious and avoid venturing into waterlogged areas to prevent any untoward incidents. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has made preparations to tackle waterlogging and other monsoon-related issues.

Floods in the Indian state of Assam have left one person dead and nearly 500,000 people affected in 22 districts and sub-divisions on Saturday.

According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), one person has died and tens of thousands have been transferred to public shelters due to heavy monsoon rains. Tens of thousands of people were relocated in over in 140 relief camps run by the Assam government.

Overall, the advancement of the southwest monsoon in Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, Uttarakhand, Mumbai, and Maharashtra brings hope for relief from the scorching heat and augurs well for the agricultural sector in these regions. However, citizens are advised to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions as heavy rainfall is expected in the coming days.
