Torrential Rains Cause Flash Floods, Closes Roads in Spain (+Video)

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Torrential rains in Spain have resulted in flash floods, submerging cars, closing off roads, and leaving several houses underwater across various cities.

Despite ongoing heavy rainfall, the situation remains precarious.

According to news18, videos shared on social media depict the city of Zaragoza, located in the northeast of the country, with residential streets transformed into flooded areas. High currents of muddy tides have entered houses and completely submerged walkways.

In one video, an aerial view of the city reveals roads turned into swift rivers, forcefully sweeping away heavy vehicles. A separate video shows individuals sitting on the roofs of their cars, desperately attempting to prevent themselves from being carried away by the powerful currents. Unfortunately, most were unable to save their vehicles and were seen being swept along with the tide.

Another distressing clip captures parked vehicles being washed away by the raging water. Police and firefighters have been tirelessly working throughout the night to rescue trapped residents and drivers.

Across the northeastern regions of the country, powerful storms have caused nearly 2 inches of rainfall on Thursday, resulting in submerged roadways. Reuters reports that Spanish authorities have responded by shutting down schools and universities in the coastal southeast provinces.

The regions most severely affected by the floods, including Murcia, Valencia, and Andalusia, are currently under high-alert flood warnings.
