IPL 2023-24: Tehran Derby Slated for Matchweek 5
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Persepolis football team will welcome Esteghlal for a Tehran derby during Matchweek 5 of the 2023-24 Iran Professional League (IPL) season.
The draw ceremony was held in Tehran’s Olympic Hotel with the participation of the 16 clubs’ representatives.
In the 2023-24 season, Shams Azar and Esteghlal Khuzestan replaced Naft Masjed Soleyman and Mes Kerman, who were relegated to the First Division.
Defending champion Persepolis is the most successful team with eight titles out of 22 editions.
The Iran Professional League is the highest division of professional football in the West Asian country. It is the top-level football league in Iran since its foundation in 2001.
