Hezbollah Chief Calls for Muslim Countries to Cut Ties with Sweden over Quran Desecration

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The secretary general of Lebanon's Hezbollah resistance group Seyed Hassan Nasrallah urged Muslim countries to sever their relations with Sweden in response to the desecration of the Holy Quran in the Scandinavian nation.

Nasrallah's remarks on Saturday followed his earlier call for Muslim countries to expel Swedish ambassadors from their capitals after a second incident of Quran desecration in Sweden.

He emphasized that the positions adopted by Muslim nations regarding this sacrilegious act should lead to the severance of diplomatic and economic ties with the Swedish government. Nasrallah warned against being deceived by mere apologies from the Swedish and Danish governments regarding the offensive acts, according to PressTV.

Referring to the desecration incidents in Sweden and Denmark, which also triggered Iran to summon the Danish ambassador to Tehran in protest, Nasrallah called for strong actions to prevent such abusive behavior. He praised the Iraqi government for its response, expelling the Swedish ambassador from Baghdad and withdrawing its own envoy from Stockholm.

Nasrallah cautioned the Swedish government to heed the remarks made by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, particularly to that part in which the Leader described Stockholm as a "government that has taken battle array against Islam" by authorizing desecration of Muslims' holy book.

The Hezbollah leader also warned that if the involvement of the Israeli spy agency, Mossad, is confirmed in these desecration acts, it could lead to further provocations and prompt strong reactions from the Muslim world. Earlier, Iran's Intelligence Ministry revealed that the individual responsible for burning the Holy Quran in Stockholm had connections with Mossad and engaged in espionage activities against resistance groups.

The ministry stated that the desecration was part of an Israeli project to divert attention from the regime's actions against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, particularly in the city of Jenin.
