New Chapter Starts in Iran-Tajikistan Ties: FM

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The foreign minister of Iran hailed a new era of cooperation with Tajikistan that entails growing interaction in all fields.

In a telephone conversation on Tuesday, Hossein Amirabdollahian and his Tajik counterpart Sirojiddin Muhriddin talked about the bilateral ties and issues of mutual interest.

Amirabdollahian hailed the friendly and close ties between Tehran and Dushanbe, saying a new chapter has begun in the bilateral cooperation and this growing trend must continue.

He also described the reciprocal visits by the presidents of the two countries as important turning points in the relations between the two states.

Since the government of President Ebrahim Raisi took office in 2021, a significant number of joint cooperation agreements have been signed that need to be implemented as a result of follow-up by the two governments, Amirabdollahian stated.

For his part, the Tajik foreign minister lauded the friendly relations between his country and Iran.

He also stressed the need to develop the close and high-level bilateral ties between the two friendly and brotherly countries.

Muhriddin also gave the Tajik president’s greetings to President Raisi and renewed an invitation to the Iranian president to visit the Central Asian country.
