Iran’s Naval Sphere of Influence Spans All Int’l Waters: IRGC Chief


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Everywhere in the oceans across the world is within the naval sphere of influence of Iran, Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Major General Hossein Salami said.

The IRGC Navy, in a ceremony on Saturday, took delivery of a series of new homegrown military equipment, including missiles, drones and electronic warfare systems.

In remarks at the event, the IRGC commander lauded the Iranian naval forces for protecting the country’s national interests and sea borders.

The servicemen of the IRGC Navy and the Iranian Navy are present off the shores and deep inside the seas, but “their sphere of influence covers each and every part of the oceans”, he stated.  

The general described the enemy’s military deployments to the region and its proximity to Iran as an opportunity that helped the Iranian military forces hone their skills and draw up a comprehensive plan to build up strength to overcome the foes.

Iran’s power and sphere of influence have been recognized by the world, he said, adding that the Islamic Republic of Iran has turned into a main actor in the geometry of power in the region and the world.

Last year, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri said Iran has reached such a high level of expertise in the defense industry that major world powers are willing to acquire its achievements.

The top general said Iran’s numerous achievements and products, including modern, smart and effectual military systems used by the ground, naval, aerial, aerospace, missile, drone and cyber defense units, have elevated the components of the country’s power and strengthened its deterrent power.

Not only have such military advances deterred the enemies from making any miscalculation in dealing with Iran, but they have also made major world powers look for obtaining the Islamic Republic’s defense industry achievements, he added.
