Desalination and transfer of water, amounting to 800 million cubic meters/per annum, is the main aim behind the implementation of the project for transferring water from the Sea of Oman to the eastern provinces of the country, IMIDRO said in a report.

This giant water-supply project will be put into operation with the cooperation of IMIDRO and major mining and mineral companies.

The project of transferring water from the Sea of Oman earmarks to South Khorasan and Sistan and Balouchestan provinces spans 1,342 kilometers.

IMIDRO put the investment made for the launch of this water-supply project at $3.550 billion.
