Syria Condemns Terrorist Act at Iran's Shah-e Cheragh Shrine

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Syria vehemently condemned the recent terrorist act targeting visitors of the Shah-e Cheragh shrine in the southern Iranian city of Shiraz, Fars province.

World

The act, perpetrated by terrorists with international backing, aims to disrupt Iran's security, said a Syrian Foreign Ministry source.

In a statement, the Syrian foreign ministry expressed its denunciation of the violent incident, emphasizing its tragic impact on innocent citizens. The act was branded as a heinous crime, decried both morally and ethically.

It called upon all involved foreign parties to immediately cease their endorsement of such reprehensible actions.

The Shah-e Cheragh shrine in Shiraz faced its second terrorist assault within a year. The attack occurred on Sunday evening, as gunmen breached the shrine's premises and initiated gunfire. Tragically, the attack resulted in the deaths of at least two people.

The assailants sought entry through the Bab al-Mahdi Gate, firing upon visitors within the mausoleum. Security forces managed to apprehend one of the attackers, while the other remains at large.

Security forces in Fars province have apprehended a total of 10 suspects in connection to the recent shrine attack. The ongoing investigation aims to uncover additional factors contributing to the terror act.
