TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Japan defeated Iran in straight sets (25-18, 25-16, 25-22) in the 2023 Asian Women’s Volleyball Championship opening match on Wednesday.

Team Melli Banovan will play India on Thursday in Pool B.

A total of 14 teams from across the continent vie for top honor and accumulated points for the FIVB World Ranking.

Teams are pitted against one another in the pool round-robin preliminaries, with only the top two teams from each pool advancing to the Top 8.
