Iran Beats Hong Kong at 2024 AFC U-23 Asian Cup Qualification


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran defeated Hong Kong 3-0 in its opening match at the 2024 AFC U-23 Asian Cup qualification on Wednesday.

Mohammad Amin Hazbavi scored for Iran just two minutes into the match. 

Mohammad Ghorbani scored the second goal in the 45th minute and with two minutes remaining, Allahyar Sayyadmanesh scored the third goal at the Lokomotiv Stadium in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

Reza Enayati’s boys will also meet Afghanistan and Uzbekistan on September 9 and 12, respectively in Group E.

A total of 16 teams will qualify to play in the final tournament, including Qatar who qualified automatically as host.

In each group, teams will play each other once at a centralized venue. The 11 group winners and the four best runners-up qualify for the final tournament.
