Baku to Host Iran-Azerbaijan Joint Military Commission Meeting


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran-Azerbaijan Joint Military Commission will hold a meeting in the Azeri capital of Baku on Saturday for bolstering relations between the two neighboring states in the relevant field.

Earlier, Chief of Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Bagheri in a telephone conversation with Defense Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Colonel General Zakir Hasanov had emphasized the development of bilateral relations and military-defense cooperation.

He expressed full readiness of Iran’s Armed Forces to take part in the joint military commission meeting and stressed that spread of peace and security at joint borders is only possible with the unity and amity between neighboring states.

He added that presence of foreigners in the region will cause tension and conflict.

In this regard, a high-ranking delegation from Iran’s Armed Forces, headed by Brigadier General Ahadi will visit the Republic of Azerbaijan Saturday on September 9 for strengthening mutual defense and military cooperation.

The delegation also includes Deputy Minister of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics Brigadier General Seyed Mehdi Farrahi.
