Iran Envoy Stresses Enhancing Trade-Economic Cooperation with Iraq

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s ambassador to Baghdad on Saturday emphasized promoting trade and economic cooperation with Iraqi industrial activists and entrepreneurs.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Mohammad Kazem Al-e Sadegh wrote, “In a meeting with the chairman and members of Iraq’s Industries Union, we pointed out the privileged relations between Iran and Iraq which bond the two countries in the fields of political, social, economic and industrial cooperation.

“We emphasized the removal of obstacles and challenges on the way of development and expansion of relations in industrial sectors that can secure the interests of the two friendly nations,” the ambassador added.

Earlier, the envoy, in an interview with IRNA, had put the value of Iran’s exports to the neighboring country in the first five months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21 to August 22) at $3.5 billion, showing more than $1 billion increase compared to the same period last year.

Al-e Sadegh termed Iraq as Iran’s important neighbor which has very good trade and economic relations with the Islamic Republic.

The envoy also put the value of trade exchanges between Iran and Iraq in 2022 at $12 billion.
