TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran and Russia have opened a new chapter of cooperation in the rail and transport sector.
Transport companies in Russia’s Novosibirsk region attended the 10th International Exhibition of Rail Transportation & Related Industries (Iran Rail Expo) for the first time.
It was held at the Tehran Permanent International Fairgrounds on September 26-29.
Within the framework of this trade and commercial program, more than 70 business-to-business (B2B) and expert-level meetings were held, according to which, four cooperation agreements were inked between the Russian companies and their Iranian partners.
The representatives of the transport companies in Russia’s Novosibirsk region also visited two cargo loading terminals at Bandar Anzali.
Getting familiarized with the transport infrastructures, they discussed the perspectives of the development of the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC), which connects Russia to India, Iran and other neighboring states (11 countries in total).
The construction of the INSTC will decrease both the transport distance to a great extent and the containerized transportation cost considerably, while maritime transport costs through the Suez Canal will cost dearly.
