Israeli Forces Clash with Palestinians at Funeral Procession in West Bank

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Israeli forces clashed with hundreds of Palestinians during a funeral procession in the West Bank, leaving over 50 individuals injured.

The mourners had gathered to bid farewell to 19-year-old Labib Dumaidi, who succumbed to injuries sustained in an earlier raid by Israeli settlers in the town of Huwara, south of Nablus.

According to Palestinian media reports, Israeli forces attacked the procession in an attempt to halt its progress, deploying live bullets, rubber-coated metal bullets, stun grenades, and tear gas against the crowd. Among those injured, 19 citizens were struck by rubber bullets, two of them in the head, and three were hit with live bullets in the foot.

During the procession, Palestinians chanted slogans condemning the use of violence by Israeli forces and settlers while expressing solidarity with the resistance. They also called for vengeance for the bloodshed of Palestinians.

The procession commenced at Rafidia Hospital in Nablus and concluded in Dumaid’s hometown of Huwara.

The Hamas resistance movement conveyed its condolences for Dumaid's death in a statement, highlighting the escalating Palestinian uprising across the occupied land, particularly in the Al-Aqsa Mosque. The statement emphasized that Palestinian resistance will ultimately bring an end to Israeli occupation.

The recent escalation of violence against Palestinians by Israel has been notable, especially following the ascent of a right-wing cabinet led by Benjamin Netanyahu. In the occupied Palestinian territories and Gaza, more than 200 Palestinians have lost their lives this year, with the majority of fatalities occurring in the West Bank.

The United Nations has labeled 2023 as the deadliest year for Palestinians in the West Bank since it began tracking fatalities nearly two decades ago. In the preceding year, 2022, the UN recorded 150 Palestinian deaths, including 33 minors.
