Hassan Yazdani Takes Gold at Hangzhou

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian freestyle wrestler Hassan Yazdani won a gold medal in the 2022 Asian Games on Saturday.

He first defeated Mukhammad Abdullaev of Kyrgyzstan 10-0 and then emerged victorious over Dovletmyrat Orazgylyjov of Turkmenistan with the same scoreboard.

Yazdani beat Mongolia’s Byambasürengiin Bat-Erdene 10-0 to book his place in the final bout of the men's 86 kg.

He also defeated Indian wrestler Deepak Punia 10-0 in the gold medal match.

Yazdani’s gold is Iran’s 11th gold medal so far in the 2022 Asian Games.

The men’s volleyball team, wrestlers Mohammad Hadi Saravi, Amin Mirzazadeh and Yones Emami, wushu practitioners Afshin Salimi and Yousf Sabri, discus thrower Hossein Rasouli, Sadegh Azarang in Kurash, climber Reza Alipour, and Karate athlete Sajad Ganjzadeh had previously won ten gold medals.
