Iran’s Men’s Chess Team Makes History in 2022 Asian Games

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s men’s chess team claimed a historic gold medal in the 2022 Asian Games on Saturday.

It was Iran’s first ever gold medal in the Games.

With the conclusion of Round nine, Iran topped the men's team points table with 7 wins, 2 draws and without loss. India finished second with 6 wins, 3 draws and without loss. Uzbekistan walked away with a bronze medal with 6 wins, 2 draws and a single loss.

Iran’s men’s team consisted of Parham Maghsoudloo, Bardiya Daneshvar, Mohammad Amin Tabatabaei, Amir Reza Pouraghabala and Pooya Idani in the 2022 Asian Games underway in Hangzhou, China.

The men’s chess team’s gold is Iran’s 13th gold medal in the 2022 Asian Games.

The men’s volleyball team, wrestlers Mohammad Hadi Saravi, Amin Mirzazadeh, Yones Emami, Hassan Yazdani and Amir Hossein Zare, wushu practitioners Afshin Salimi and Yousf Sabri, discus thrower Hossein Rasouli, Sadegh Azarang in Kurash, climber Reza Alipour, and Karate athlete Sajad Ganjzadeh had previously won 12 gold medals.
