Iran, Azerbaijan Stress Establishing A Transport Committee

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan emphasized the need for setting up a transportation committee to expand mutual relations and resolve differences in the relevant field.

Iran’s Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mehrdad Bazrpash in a meeting in Baku on Saturday with Minister of Digital Development and Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan Rashad Nabiyev stressed promoting bilateral ties in the transport and transit sector.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on the establishment of the transport committee between Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan for accelerating the implementation of provisions in connection to the bilateral transport cooperation.

Settling problems at border terminals, accelerating the implementation of joint projects, reaching a common understanding with regard to the development of transit with a strategic and targeted goal to achieve 15 million tons/year were among the issues discussed between the two sides.

Bazrpash talked about resolving transit problems facing drivers, road fleet, general understanding about the development of cooperation in the fields of air, sea, rail and combined transportation and also implementation of joint border projects.
