Iran’s Export of Food, Agricultural Products Up 21% in 6 Months: Spokesman


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The spokesperson of the Trade Promotion Commission of Iran’s House of Industry, Mine and Trade said that the country’s export of food and agricultural products in the first six months of the current Iranian calendar year registered a 21 percent growth.

More than 5.3 million tons of agricultural, livestock, fisheries and food products, valued at $2.428 billion, were exported overseas from March 21 to September 22, 2023, showing a 2 and 21 percent hike in weight and value respectively compared to last year’s corresponding period, Seyed Rouhollah Latifi stated.

He went on to say that 7.67 million tons of non-oil goods, valued at $1.24 billion, were exported from the country, 5.3 million tons of which, valued at $2.428 billion, related to the livestock, fisheries, dairy, food and agricultural products.

Animal, fisheries, dairy, food and agricultural products accounted for 6 and 10 percent of total exports share in the country in the first half of the current Iranian calendar year in weight and value respectively, Latifi said.

As the driving force of the country’s economy, export is of paramount importance, he said, calling on policymakers and producers to pay attention to the quality and competitive price of the products and taste of customers in the target markets.
