Iran, Niger Move to Broaden Political, Economic Ties

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The foreign ministers of Iran and Niger at a meeting in Tehran discussed ways to promote political and economic cooperation and enhance interaction between the two countries in the scientific and technological fields.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and his Nigerien counterpart Bakary Yaou Sangare met in Tehran on Tuesday.

They discussed various topics of mutual interest in the realm of bilateral and international relations, as well as the latest developments in Niger.

Amirabdollahian highlighted the principled position of Iran on the expansion of relations with the African countries.

He also emphasized the importance of closer mutual cooperation in various areas, including political, economic, scientific, and technological fields.

The Iranian foreign minister stressed as significant the exchange of high-level delegations between the two countries aimed at advancing the interests of both parties, the Foreign Ministry’s website reported.

The joint commission of economic cooperation between Iran and Niger will provide a framework for practical interaction between the two states, Amirabdollahian stated.

The foreign minister of Niger, for his part, hailed the capabilities of Iran in various economic, scientific, and technological areas. He also emphasized Niger’s eagerness to foster relations with Iran in various sectors.

He noted that Iran’s capabilities could meet Niger’s needs in the energy and industrial sectors.

Sangare expressed hope for the continued growth and strengthening of relations between the two countries in the near future.
