MAPNA Official Stresses Iran’s Capability to Construct Power Plants in Neighboring States

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The deputy CEO of the Iran Power Plant Projects Management Company (MAPNA) Group for Marketing and Sales Affairs said Iran has high potential and capability for manufacturing power plants in neighboring countries.

Abdolrahim Kazemi made the comments Thursday on the sidelines of the 23rd edition of the Iran International Electricity Exhibition (IEE) and the first edition of the Iran Electricity Exhibition Tech Market Festival.

He noted that there is a 10,000-megawatt capacity for constructing power plants in neighboring countries, valued at $6 billion.

In general, MAPNA Group has concentrated on exporting technical and engineering services to the regional countries, he said, adding that the group has so far launched constructive and fruitful cooperation with the regional states in the electricity industry.

Turning to the challenges facing the development of export of technical and engineering services in the electricity sector, Kazemi noted that a lack of necessary financial resources for investment, banking barriers, issues related to the money transfer and issuance of the guarantee letters are among the key factors that undermine the stability in exports.

He called on responsible officials to take effective measures in order to settle those problems.

The 23rd Iran International Electricity Exhibition (IEE) kicked off on Tuesday, November 14, with the participation of Energy Minister Ali Akbar Mehrabian with 474 domestic companies and 110 foreign companies from 12 countries showcasing their latest achievements at the expo.
