Iran, Qatar Emphasize Developing Maritime, Air Transportation Cooperation

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Officials from Iran and Qatar stressed the need to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries at the 9th Iran-Qatar Joint Economic Cooperation Commission.

At the closing ceremony of the commission, the secretary of the 9th Iran-Qatar Joint Economic Cooperation Commission pointed to the expert-level meetings held with the Qatari sides and noted that officials of the two countries discussed a wide spectrum of issues in the trade, energy, infrastructural and social committees.

More than 38 topics were discussed between the two sides in the four committees, the most important of which were related to the banking, customs, export, shipping, transport and agricultural relations, he stated.

The head of the international affairs department of the Ministry of Energy pointed out that other subjects in the fields of tourism, healthcare and treatment, medicines, judicial and legal affairs were also discussed between the two sides.

The Qatari secretary of the 9th Iran-Qatar Joint Economic Commission also addressed the ceremony, saying constructive talks were held between the two sides in the fields of trade and economy.

Saleh al-Mane emphasized increasing cooperation between the two countries' the public and private sectors.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the director general of the international affairs department of Qatar ministry of Industry and Commerce said that Qatar calls for more cooperation in the field of air transportaton.

In the field of maritime transport, the two sides have emphasized the significance of launching direct shipping lines, he added.
