RFU has opted to stay in the European fold as Moscow eyes progress in relations with UEFA.
Global and European football's governing bodies, FIFA and UEFA, decided in February 2022 that all Russian teams, whether national or club sides, would be suspended from participation in their competitions.
"We decided that we will not move to Asia. Everyone supported the decision unanimously," Vice-President of the Russian Football Union Akhmed Aydamirov said, according to state-run news agency TASS.
"We will fight for Europe. Russia is Europe. We will win," he added.
