Iran’s Genetic Reserves Exceed Those in Europe: Deputy Agriculture Minister


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran is a rich country in terms of genetic reserves and the country’s genetic reserves surpass those in all European countries, the deputy minister of agriculture said.

Addressing the 6th International Congress of Large Animal Practitioners (ICLAP 2023), Mojtaba Khayyam Nekouei put the number of genetic reserves that exist in European countries at 7,000, while the number stands at 8,000 in Iran.

He also said that timely diagnosis helps to make decisions and manage diseases in the field of veterinary medicine optimally and the use of nanotechnology increases accuracy and precision in medical sciences.

The head of Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Organization (AREEO) hailed the effective measures taken in the administration of President Ebrahim Raisi in the field of agricultural productions and said the national document of knowledge-based food security has been notified by the president after more than four decades.

The document has been compiled by 400 university lecturers in various fields, and a major part of the document is related to the veterinary medicine field.  

Strengthening the smart consumption pattern system and setting up a smart monitoring system has been emphasized in the comprehensive document, Khayyam Nekouei added. 

The 6th International Congress of Large Animal Practitioners (ICLAP 2023) kicked off on December 24 and will run through December 25.
