Media outlets had reported that the Seria A club will not release Azmoun but it seems the forward has been allowed to join Team Melli.
Azmoun is a mainstay player of Amir Ghalenoei’s team in the 2023 AFC Asian Cup.
Iran has been drawn in Group C along with the UAE, Hong Kong and Palestine.
Roma is scheduled to host Atalanta on January 7 in Stadio Olimpico. Azmoun will travel to Doha after the match.
