Zagreb Open: Freestyle Wrestler Nokhodi Snatches Gold


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian freestyle wrestler Mohammad Nokhodi won a gold medal in the Zagreb Open Thursday night.

He recovered from a grueling semifinal against Evan Wick from the US to win gold at 79kg with a 6-0 win over Georgian Avtandil Kentchadze.

The two-time world silver medalist Iranian struggled with his conditioning in the semifinal but managed to win 6-6.

In the final, he scored all the points in the first period and then defended Kentchadze's attacks to win the gold.

The Ranking Series event started on January 10 in Zagreb, Croatia with Freestyle, followed by Women's Wrestling, and end with Greco-Roman.
