Iran’s Proposals Accepted at IPCC Meeting

Iran’s views were used as a criterion in preparing the 7th report of the IPCC meeting, Sadeq Ziaeian stated.

The Iranian delegation, headed by the head of the Iranian Meteorological Organization, managed to include all of its views in the preparation of the document.

In cooperation with other members of the Like-Minded Group of Developing Countries (LMDC), Iran included issues such as increasing the share of adaptation studies to climate change and carbon removal versus reducing emissions, paying attention to indigenous and local knowledge and etc. in the general program of preparation of the seventh report.

The scientific and periodic reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) will serve as a criterion for the political decisions of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) to deal with climate change, Ziaeian added.

The representative of the Iran Meteorological Organization (IMO) joined The Task Force on National Greenhouse Gas Inventories (TFI) of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) after 15 years.
