It is predicted that 250 tons of saffron will have been produced in the country by the yearend (March 20, 2024), Hossein Zeinali stated.

According to the statistics, 150 tons of saffron were exported from March 21 to November 22, 2023, the commissioner said.

He noted that the country exported 244 tons of saffron in 2022.

Zeinali put the domestic consumption volume of this product at 80 tons in 2022.

He put the under-cultivation land area for the saffron product in the current year at 123,000 ha.

Zeinali went on to say that incentive packages have been prepared for saffron growers in line with helping them provide the required agricultural raw materials, IRNA reported.
