Iran, Turkey Agree to Construct New Gas Pipeline: Roads Minister

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian minister of roads and urban development said that Iran and Turkey have agreed on constructing a new gas transmission pipeline.

Mehrdad Bazrpash, who is the head of the Iran-Turkey Joint Economic Commission, travelled to Ankara accompanying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi on Wednesday.

He said that the 8th Meeting of the High Council of Iran-Turkey Cooperation was held during the presidential visit with the aim of boosting bilateral ties in the fields of trade and economy.

He went on to say that 10 cooperation documents were also signed by the high-ranking officials of the two countries to boost mutual ties in all fields.

Bazrpash pointed to the subject of transportation as one of the main topics discussed between high-ranking officials of the two countries, adding that if the International East-West Transport Corridor is completed, Turkey can get easy access to the high seas, Mehr news agency reported. 

He further noted that the two countries agreed to boost bilateral ties in the fields of culture, media, science and technology.

The two sides also agreed to hold the Iran-Turkey Joint Economic Cooperation Commission in the near future to cement bilateral relations, Bazrpash added.
