UN Envoy Warns of Iran’s Resolute Response to Any Military Action

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations cautioned that any hostile military attack against the country, its people or interests under any pretext will draw a harsh response from Tehran.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday night, Saeed Iravani said it is the fundamental policy of Iran to give a strong response to the enemies in case they target the country, its interests or nationals.

He also dismissed the story of exchange of messages between Iran and the US via intermediaries over the past days in the wake of a fatal attack on a US military base in Jordan.

“Such messages have not been exchanged”, the envoy said, IRNA reported.

In a letter to the president of the UN Security Council on Monday, Iravani emphasized that there is no group affiliated with Iran’s armed forces, whether in Iraq, Syria, or elsewhere.

Rejecting allegations that militia groups affiliated with Iran’s armed forces are involved in actions against US personnel and facilities in Iraq and Syria, the ambassador said in the letter, “Iran is not responsible for the actions of any individual or group within the region.”
