Saudi Arabia Settling Umrah Pilgrimage Trouble: Envoy to Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Saudi Arabia’s ambassador in Tehran gave an assurance that the kingdom is addressing the technical problems that Iranian Umrah (minor Hajj) pilgrims have encountered in recent weeks.

In a meeting with Saudi Arabia’s ambassador in Tehran on Tuesday, Iranian Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi said the people of Iran expect an immediate settlement of the trouble with the Umrah pilgrimage and the resumption of travels to the land where the prophet of Islam received revelations.

For his part, Saudi Ambassador Abdullah bin Saud Alanazi attributed the delay in the Hajj pilgrimage travels to “technical problems”, giving an assurance that they will be resolved soon.

The Iranian interior minister and the Saudi envoy also weighed plans for closer cooperation between the two Muslim states in the fight against terrorism.
