Iran Praises Indonesia’s Backing for Palestine

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The foreign minister of Iran admired Indonesia for supporting Palestine and condemning the Israeli regime’s airstrike on the consular section of the Iranian embassy in Syria.

In a telephone conversation with his Indonesian counterpart on Tuesday, Hossein Amirabdollahian lauded the Southeast Asian nation for its efforts to help the Palestinian people and restore their rights.

He also hailed Indonesia’s vote in favor of Iran and against a resolution proposed at the UN Human Rights Council about the situation of human rights in Iran.

Expressing gratitude to Indonesia for condemning the fatal strike the Zionist regime launched on Iran’s diplomatic mission in Damascus on April 1, Amirabdollahian briefed his counterpart on the aspects of Iran’s legitimate retaliatory operation in response to the Israeli crime.

Describing the Zionist regime as the root cause of tensions and wars in the region, the foreign minister underlined that Iran will remain a major contributor to regional stability and security and never looks for the escalation of tensions.

For her part, Retno Marsudi called for the continuation of consultations and cooperation between Jakarta and Tehran about the issue of Palestine.

Indonesia emphasizes that the developments in Gaza should not fade into oblivion and the cause of Palestine must be kept alive, she stated.

At least 33,843 Palestinians have been killed and 76,575 wounded in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7, 2023.
