Iran Ready to Promote Maritime Trade with Africans: Official

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The deputy head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Line (IRISL) for the market development affairs said the country’s national maritime fleet is ready to broaden export of cargos to the African countries.

Economy

Amir Bayat said the IRISL has taken widespread measures to develop maritime trade with the African countries.

Presently, direct and indirect shipping lines are active to the East, North and West Africa, he said, adding that the direct shipping lines are currently offering high-quality transportation services to merchants in East Africa, especially in Kenya, Tanzania and Zanzibar.

In the meantime, direct shipping lines are active in North Africa destined for the ports of Libya, Morocco and Algeria, he added.

He noted that the IRISL has established regional offices in the African countries to offer high-quality services to the trade vessels commuting between Iran and Africa.

By launching a door-to-door network system, the IRISL is ready to transport export goods with around 1,500 wagons and 150 trailers from the production point to the final destination, Bayat added.
