TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Porto claimed its 20th Portuguese Cup title in its history with a victory sealed by Mehdi Taremi's goal, converting a penalty in extra time.
In the final match, the "Dragons" faced off against the newly crowned Lisbon champion, Sporting.
Lisbon's defender, St. Juste, played a crucial role in the game. Initially, he scored from a corner kick, putting his team ahead in the 20th minute.
Porto’s Evanilson capitalized on a defensive error and equalized the score five minutes later.
St. Juste was shown a red card in the 29th minute.
After the break, Porto dominated possession, but Sporting always had a response, leading to no winner being determined in regular time.
The decisive moment came in the middle of the first extra time. Porto was awarded a penalty, confidently converted by Mehdi Taremi.
