Iran Condemns US, UK’s Fatal Strikes on Yemen

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Foreign Ministry of Iran condemned the joint military attacks by the US and UK that have killed and injured dozens of civilians in Yemen.

In a statement on Friday, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kanaani strongly condemned the American and British strikes that have killed and wounded many Yemeni people in Sana’a and Hodeidah on Thursday night.

“The aggressive strikes launched by the US and UK on Yemen and targeting of civilians and citizens are carried out at the same time that those two countries continue to provide unlimited supports for the continuation of the Zionist regime’s war crimes and genocide against the Gaza Strip and Rafah, aimed at spreading insecurity across the region and preventing the Yemeni people and National Salvation Government’s honorable support for the oppressed people of Palestine,” the spokesman said.

Denouncing the US and UK strikes on Yemen as a clear example of violation of the Arab country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and the flagrant breach of the international regulations and human rights, Kanaani said, “The aggressive US and UK governments are held accountable for the consequences of these crimes against Yemeni people.”

The Iranian spokesman also called on the international community and organizations and the Islamic countries to honor their legal and humanitarian duties to support Yemeni people and counter the US and UK’s provocative acts of adventurism in the region.

The death toll from joint US-UK strikes in Yemen has risen to 16, with at least 35 wounded, according to Al-Masirah TV.

The strikes hit areas in Sana’a, Hodeidah and Taiz, including a building housing Hodeidah Radio, killing civilians, according to the media report.

In a post on X, Yemeni official Mohammed Abdulsalam, said the attacks amounted to “brutal aggression on Yemen”, which he said was “punishment” for their support of Palestinians in Gaza.
