Iran’s Shahrdari Advances to BCL Asia Semifinals

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian basketball team Shahrdari Gorgan rebound from a tough loss to deal Japan’s Hiroshima Dragonflies its first defeat in BCL Asia 2024, 94-81, at the Sheikh Saeed Bin Maktoum Sports Hall on Tuesday.

Moreover, the margin of victory clinched Gorgan the top spot in the group standings heading into the Semifinals. The Hiroshima Dragonflies also clinched qualification to the Semifinals as the second-placed team in the group.

Joseph Young mustered a herculean performance of 34 points coming off the bench, including important points down the stretch to get the team the important win and margin of victory.

The Dragonflies themselves got a great scoring game from Dwayne Evans who had 29 points, but lost some energy towards the end while trying to mount a comeback.

Shahrdari Gorgan had defeated KCC Egis 102-79 and lost to Pelita Jaya 97-90 in Group B.
